Puntland Denies UAE Military Base, Presence, and Radar Deployment in Bosaso

Puntland’s Minister of Information, Mahmoud Dirir, said the claims were false and politically motivated. He said the UAE has no military bases, radar systems, or missile deployments in the port city.

“The UAE has no base in Puntland. No radars or missiles have been deployed here. These are cheap propaganda efforts coordinated by the weak administration of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and certain Qatari and Turkish individuals,” Dirir said.

Recent reports claimed Bosaso was being used as a secret base to support Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF). These reports also alleged that Israeli radar systems were deployed by the UAE in the region to target the Houthis.

Puntland officials said the region has not allowed foreign powers to use its territory for military purposes. Authorities stressed that Puntland remains neutral in regional conflicts and does not permit military campaigns from its soil.

Dirir also rejected any links to the Sudan conflict. “Sudan is a Muslim Arab country, no attacks are being launched from here,” he said.

The Puntland government called on the media and public to avoid spreading unverified information. Officials said Puntland’s partnerships with foreign countries focus on development and economic cooperation.

Puntland emphasized its position as a stable region that works with international partners while staying clear of regional disputes. Officials noted the challenge of addressing misinformation spreading through media and social platforms.
